The first free carbon footprint gauge for inhabitants of the City of Buenos Aires

Based on the idea that citizen participation is the motor for creating changes, the Global Citizenship Program and the Green Schools Program which belong to the Ministry of Education of the City of Buenos Aires (CABA) designed “My sustainable footprint”, the first free carbon footprint gauge developed specifically for the City of Buenos Aires inhabitants.
This application for computers and mobile devices is used for calculating the impact of the Buenos Aires neighbors actions as well offering recommendations and suggestions in order to strengthen more respectful practices for the environment. The application is based on Big Data and it has been designed with emission calculations specifically for the City of Buenos Aires. This application is user friendly and proactive, it consists of a series of simple questions related to 4 categories: Energy consumption at homes, food, transportation and waste. The application calculates the carbon footprint and it creates a report about the outcomes which can be downloaded so each person can track their advances.
