Planet Book. The exhibition

Planet Book. The exhibition

The disruptive power of stunning photographs, combined with the striking words of the 21st century young generation, can make a difference in opening the minds of us all

The University of Padua Botanical Garden, Padua, Italy | 7 July 2021 – 24 October 2021

“PLANET BOOK. The exhibition” features a selection of the most significant photographs from Planet Book, the editorial project born from the collaboration between Contrasto (publishing house) and the University of Padua, edited by Telmo Pievani. It will bring together 200 photographs commented by a group of students from the University of Padua.

The photographs are exhibited according to the four elements employed by ancient philosophers to understand the world: Water, Earth, Fire, and Air, with the addition of a fifth element represented by us human beings in all our ambivalence, capable as we are of admirable creative impetus and destructive impulses.

The exhibition adopts the point of view of millennials and post-millennials, heirs to a heavy global environmental debt with increasingly devastating effects. However, the aim is to reach the widest possible audience.

By showing and explaining our dependence on our host planet and the profound transformations we have inflicted on it, the project aims at increasing awareness on the importance of sustainability, a conscious use of natural resources, and most of all the commitment to change that our planet demands from us.

“Planet Book. The exhibition” is also the leitmotif of the sixth edition of Risvegli, the cultural and scientific festival promoted every year by the University of Padua, held at the Botanical Garden.
